Table leg base
Mounted telescoping table leg on new wooden base and routed it to shape so it’s a perfect circle. Next step is to adjust the teak so that saloon table is straight.
Started building table leg base
The table in the saloon needs a base to screw the leg into (can’t put screws into the hull, duh!). Used some leftover teak cutouts from the handrail making to build the starting shape for the 12″ base. Fusion360 helped dial in the sizes, 6 parts give us 60 degree angles for the chuck saw. The inside surfaces are all over the place but they will not be visible anyway so no reason to square that.
Tile set on mortar
With help from my friend Viktar, made new teak trim and bulkhead to box in the tile area, lined it with HDPE, and set tile on mortar.
Installed backing board & cut custom tiles
With 2 sets of tiles ready, today was the day to dry fit the entire assembly and figure out the last row. Ended up with 5 custom pieces that will be done next week. Will likely rotate the tiles in the final layout (and need to figure out which one goes where). Teak border is also just FPO right now, needs more work to have smooth edges and better bottom shape.
The new hatch is IN
Finally, after months of work, the hatch is in place, even with canvas.

Used cutouts from teak vanity table to make a round base for fireplace vent. Did a quick dry fit and prepped for varnish.
