1971 Newport 30 Sailboat
Took time to clean up the entry this weekend. Applied liner to the underside of the hatch and then sanded down, stained, and finished the teak trim around the companionway. Osmo Polyx Oil is such an awesome finish to work with!
That trim was exposed to the elements for some time before I made canvas cover and varnish was peeling off all over. Nice clean chocolate-colored look now!
In prep for paint, filled in storm-damaged areas of the bow, masked all places, and sprayed primer. It was really blowing in the marina so I had to get creative to be able to spray an even coat. Tuned out OK with just a few trouble spots to send out.
Finally, after months of work, the hatch is in place, even with canvas.
Took time to do proper rounded corners 🙂
Even though the hatch is not yet installed, took opportunity to sew a cover for it.
