Cooking on the boat

As I’m without a car this weekend, I stocked up on groceries and ended up cooking more than I usually do. But it was fun and turned out great, despite somewhat cramped quarters.

Pasta with Alfredo sauce and shiitake mushrooms:

Steak with asparagus

Avocado toast with boiled egg and sriracha (don’t have room for a proper toaster so used the pan).

First meals in the galley

Great to be able to use the galley to cook and warm up some food! A bunch of improvements were already evident – need to organize the space a bit better. But still – getting closer to a very livable space.

Knife block

My original plan was to make a knife block behind the stove but then I saw a really nice magnetic wood-covered strip and decided to mount them on the wall. Will need to add a rubber band to hold them tighter so they don’t fall off while sailing.

Finalizing cutting board

Made a piece for the front of the cutting board, rounded edges, and glued it in.

Then made a juice groove by sticking a centerpiece on the board using double-sided tape and then routing around it. Hindsight: might have been better to use CNC for this and do a cleaner groove with shape closer to square.
