Removed the flimsy latches and instead installed new corner brackets that I made last weekend. Put in new thumbscrews. The table feels absolutely solid now.
Also tested folding it down. This could make for a great double-bed.

Tested position for the saloon table leg. Not epoxied in yet, just a dry-fit. The teak base needs a bit of adjustment to work with the curvature of the hull before I can glue it in.
