Finalized main sail cover/bag

Finalized the front section of the new sail cover/bag by adding straps and buckles.

With sewing machine out for the floor runner, took time to finalize the cover for the fireplace vent. I made it a few years ago but ended up with it being too small and useless. The teak base under the vent got pretty weathered so I finally added a wedge into my first take and made that cover fit. Not my best work but does the job.

Got started on companionway cover

Finally got some time to spend on canvas work. With El Niño winter approaching, I better have the entrance (and teak) protected from the elements. The idea is to use the Sailrite tutorial as baseline but modify it to have flaps around my teak boards + add top part + add a pocket at the bottom for sandbags so this cover can hang well when fastened from the inside.

Sewing hatch cover

Even though the hatch is not yet installed, took opportunity to sew a cover for it.

Sewing grabrail cover

Used 1″ binder attachment for my Sailrite sewing machine to create reinforced edging on grab rail covers. Added fasteners – first try at doing that with the SnapRite tool and they turned out OK.

Mainsail cover DONE!

After dry-fitting and making final adjustments, the common sense fasteners were installed using special hole punches from SailRite. Finally, the cover took its permanent place and the project is DONE!

Canvas projects installed

My first sewing projects finally made it to the boat. Main sail cover was fitted (without the sail on) and final measurements for fasteners and mast choker were made. Winch covers and tiller cover were installed in their places and are considered DONE!
