Several of the fasteners started leaking on the inside after I pressure washed the deck a bit too close to the handrail base. Had to raise it, clean things up, and re-bed it.
Used 1″ binder attachment for my Sailrite sewing machine to create reinforced edging on grab rail covers. Added fasteners – first try at doing that with the SnapRite tool and they turned out OK.
My plan to fasten the handrails from inside worked out well. With help from my friend Viktor, we pre-drilled the hand rail bases, mounted them with about 1″ clearance for sealant, and then gradually tightened up the screws. They sit solid and look great!
