Made the trip from the boat yard to home port today. Cast off at about 6:20am, still in the dark, and “sailed” into the sunrise. First surprise was that fw/reverse on the throttle were not where I thought they were but that was easy to get used to. The biggest challenge was with tides and currents. With 4am low tide, the San Rafael channel was still very narrow and shallow at 6. And all the 11.5nm of the way I had to fight 2-3 knots of flood. It was so strong under the bridge that I thought I’d be blown onto one of the pilings. Since the mast wasn’t fully secure (no screws at base and temp forestay/backstay) every time the wake from ferries hit me I was praying to not get dismasted. Good thing Nadia met me at the marina and helped me dock. Fun ride overall and beautiful morning!
